Got to see you a lot out at the speed boat races a few years back. I was wondering if you were interested in getting back into speedboating and if you are still able to get out boating in general? What ever happened to NControl? Much love! Submitted by Kelly in Orlando
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:07:51 PM)
Speed boat racing was taking up alot of my time , when it came to singing and acting, so I decided to put it on the back burner for awhile. But I would love to get back into it eventually, its a blast
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:09:46 PM)

Hey Nick, I can't wait to see you guys in Stuttgart on October 8th! I'm from Croatia so I have to travel about 11 hours but you guys are totally worth it!!! My question for you would be about your next solo CD. Back in 2003 you said that you were going back to your roots and the stuff you have done with the Backstreet Boys - to be specific: back to dancing. I was just wondering do you still feel that way or are you going to continue making pop/rock music? What kind of direction will your next CD have?
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:19:47 PM)
I will stick with what I love, and what I belive in
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:20:03 PM)
when it comes to my music
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:23:17 PM)

Probably gonna pick on him . (just joking) i dont know thanks for reminding me.
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:25:15 PM)
Anything else.
kathleen (Aug 9, 2005 6:26:50 PM)
Nick has a big show tonight. We'd like to thank everyone for coming. We had a few server issues that slowed us down and we will be sure to fix those for the next chat.
nick (Aug 9, 2005 6:27:12 PM)
Aww.... one more please
kathleen (Aug 9, 2005 6:28:03 PM)

Carmen Queasy is the police (Aug 9, 2005 6:29:23 PM)

Hi Howie, I wanted to let you know what an inspiration you have been to my mother. My grandmother died last summer and its some of the very songs that you have written that has helped her get through such a difficult time. I hope you know what an impact you have on your fans.

Chandra (passecj) (Aug 3, 2005 6:12:36 PM)
Hi Howie, I’m Chandra from Seattle, WA. Your music means so much to me, it’s gotten me through so many things, and I know that when I pop in one of your CD’s, as soon as I hear your voices my day seems suddenly better. So my question is, is there an artist or group that you listen to that puts you into a good mood if you’re having a bad day? Or that just inspires you to keep going?
howie (Aug 3, 2005 6:13:48 PM)
I love the music of David Gray, as well as Maroon 5 and Sade, they all take me to another place when I listen to them, thanks for asking
BSBfanatic935 (Aug 3, 2005 6:14:01 PM)
Howie, I was at the “Just Want You To Know” video shoot and from what I saw it looks hilarious (don’t worry, I kept it a secret!). I was wondering if you knew when it was going to premiere?

Jeff Spevak-Staff music critic, says about Backstreet Boys.

(August 5, 2005) — Yeah, you're probably wondering the same thing I am: Why isn't this Backstreet Boys review running on the obituary page? The heyday is gone, and the days of "Hey, weren't you once ...?" are rapidly approaching. With a slim crowd of maybe 7,000 people Thursday night at Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, it may be time for the Backstreet Boys to follow the lead of other fading celebs and explore reality-show options. It's a wonder the guys didn't slip on the testosterone that had to be all over the stage after Saturday's Clay Aiken show, but the Backstreet Boys are real pros. A full decade into their careers, A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson and Nick Carter — who sometimes treat singing in tune as though it were optional — are actually quite charming. Interestingly, the old boy band still connects with its young audience, even though McClean now has the hairline of a Klingon warrior and Dorough asked at one point, "Are you ready to party?" Maybe so, but judging by the lack of lines at the beer tents, this young crowd doesn't party like an Allman Brothers crowd. There were some modest pyrotechnics, sweeping green lasers and cat-like choreography. But fast-cut video montages during costume breaks were reminders of the band's arena-filling past and the once-elaborate nature of their sets and costumes. At times, the show was like watching an old rerun of Friends in which you spot a curious piece of out-of-time fashion. Like Lisa Kudrow's leg warmers, or Carter's single, fingerless glove. The music has a similar quality. After five years, the Backstreet Boys released a new album in June. Never Gone was gone kinda quick, but songs such as "My Beautiful Woman" and "I Still ..." fit right in with old melodramas like "The Shape of My Heart." And when the stage was bathed in purple and blue lights and the guys came out in sporty chapeaus, it was time for Motown-influenced ballads like "All I Have to Give." Technology continues to blossom at these youth-oriented shows. By dialing a special number, fans could text message the Backstreet Boys on the big video screens over the stage. My favorite of the night: "Nsync 4ever." Beforehand, Boston's Click Five wore suits and came off like Fountains of Wayne with training wheels. But the pop band was weirdly appealing. Good, even. Opening its brief set with "Pop Princess," Click Five has the same curious appeal as bands like the Knack. And an excellent choice of a cover song — "I Think We're Alone Now" — suggests these guys also play with a nod and a wink. Opener Kaci Brown is prefabricated from the same mold as the last 16,884 17-year-old pop chix to appear on the covers of teen lifestyle magazines. Forced to perform with just backing tracks, she and her two dancing boys delivered a performance that had all of the conviction of a high school pep rally squad. She said she was, like, really, really excited that her debut album, Instigator, will be released next week, and she has already shot a video for the first single. Only in America, as Don King would say. Brown introduced one song as being about cute surfer guys and said it was inspired by the view from the Cadillac Hotel. That couldn't have been the Cadillac in downtown Rochester, unless her image of a cute surfer guy is some unshaven dude drinking out of a brown paper bag.
