Statement to our fans from the Backstreet Boys regarding Kevin Richardson departure from the group:

Earlier this year, after much soul searching, Kevin Richardson came to us and told us that he had decided to leave the group and pursue other interests. He gave his blessing to continue the music without him.

We have no intention of replacing Kevin, and the door will always be open for him to return to the Backstreet Boys. We wish him the all the best in his future endeavors.

This weekend we are returning to the studio to begin the follow-up to Never Gone, and will see you later this year with a new album.

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean

Statement from Kevin Richardson

After 13 years of what can only be described as a dream come true, I have decided that it is time to leave the Backstreet Boys. It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life. Howard, Brian, Alex and Nick will always be my little brothers and have my utmost love and support. I would like to thank the Backstreet fans for all the beautiful memories we have shared together and look forward to including you in the next phase of my life. I wish my brothers continued success and look forward to their new album.

Kevin

Brian Littrell has finally come home.

He dedicated his first solo album, "Welcome Home," to God. The born-again Christian singer, more commonly known as a member of the Backstreet Boys, grew up singing in church and credits his faith to the success he has had personally and professionally.

"I've always attributed my success to God and having this opportunity as a solo artist. My faith has always been the utmost important thing in my life," Littrell tells andPOP over the phone from Atlanta.

Five questions with Brian Littrell
BY JOHN NEMO

Special to the Pioneer Press

He might have grown up as a Backstreet Boy, but these days, Brian Littrell wants to be known as a man of faith.

The 31-year-old native of Lexington, Ky., spent more than 13 years as a member of the famous boy band, helping the Backstreet Boys sell more than 90 million albums worldwide. Littrell, who released a contemporary Christian album, "Welcome Home," as a solo artist earlier this spring, will perform Saturday at Valleyfair with Christian swing band Denver & the Mile High Orchestra. He took a few minutes last week to ruminat! e on everything from his reception in the contemporary Christian music industry to where he'd be today if he hadn't become a Backstreet Boy.

Brian Films Music Video

Backstreet Boy Brian Litrell sang outside the first United Methodist Church in downtown Franklin Tuesday. Litrell recorded his first, solo video shoot, Welcome Home. The song is the first single from Litrells debut album as a Christian artist.

Litrell said the song is also a homecoming for him. Welcome Home for me is kind of a homecoming of faith, he said. Litrell said a lot of people dont know he had a scholarship for a bible college where he was going to study youth ministry and music ministry. He said God pulled him away in 1993 to be a Backstreet Boy, but now he is back.

While Litrell does still works as a Backstreet Boy and lives in Atlanta, his new album often brings him to the Nashville area. Not only is Litrells record label in Nashville, he said the area is gorgeous for a video shoot.

For the video shoot, Litrell painted the picture of his song in front of church doors. The church doors are significant for me because the cover shot of my record has a door on the front, he said. In deed, Litrell keeps opening doors, venturing into even more places with his life. He now doubles as both a Christian singer and a Backstreet Boy.

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Brian Littrell, one of pops most recognized and bestselling artists, is set to release this spring his debut Christian-market album Welcome Home. The first single from Welcome Home will be its title track, which goes for adds on Friday, March 17.

This has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy singing in church in Lexington, Kentucky, said Littrell, who grew up singing in various youth choirs at Port Memorial Baptist Church. With Welcome Home, I hope to encourage people to stand up for what they believe.

A straight-ahead pop record, lyrically the project illuminates Gods unequivocal love for humanity and outlines the possibilities for life when people dedicate themselves to a higher calling.

Ive been writing Christian music for a long time, Littrell said, and now I have the opportunity to share some of those songs with others. Im a family guy making music for the family. AJ Talks about Solo Album

Sounds like the Backstreet Boys resident rebel AJ McLean is back on the booze again from the descriptions he provided MTV News of his upcoming solo album.

When asked which artists he was hoping to collaborate with, McLean named Irish songstress Enya just to screw people up. But it seems his intentions arent all that crazy, rather refreshingly ambitious. It's going to be like funk/soul/rock," he explained. "I want to go back to the basics. Live instruments, live horns something you don't hear on the radio anymore. [Right now] it's all about synthesizers and beats, so [I thought], 'Let's try something else.' " AJ then went on to name other collaborators he was hoping might feature on his album, including Peter Gabriel, John Fogerty, Lenny Kravitz and Al Green.

AJ has slated the albums release for June 2006, and having worked on it for the past 2 years has amassed a collection of around 40 songs. He also revealed to MTV that the Backstreet Boys are taking an indefinite break to pursue their various solo interests following their recent world tour.
