| Chapter 15 |
"Alright Max, I'll see you soon ok?" Nick said to song writer Max Martin on his office phone.
"Alright Nick, see ya." Max replied before hanging up. Nick smiled to himself, and circled a song title on a piece of paper he had been scribbling on, whilst talking to Max Martin, who was speaking to all
5 members about personal experiences, to help him with the writing of a couple of songs. He had spoken to Nick twice previous of this phone call, and said he was writing a song that Nick was going to love. Nick stared at the title and wondered deeply what it was about, but with so many possibilities, a mere title could never reveal its true secrets, without the lyrics, or the music. He left the piece of paper on the desk and checked his mobile phone as he went into the living room. There was a text message and he slumped onto his sofa to read it. It said "Heather Mob" on it, and Nick bit his lip, excited to know what it said.
"Hey Nick- how you doin'? Just wonderin' if you wanted to meet up and hang out again sometime soon? Let me know. Text back. Lots of love, Heather."
It was a pleasant feeling that a girl wanted his attention. He reflected on the times when Paris would give him no attention until she wanted something in return for it. She was so cunning and so manipulative, but Nick stopped his thoughts. He wasn't going to spare his time thinking about her anymore, although it was hard. He text back and offered his company to Heather for that night- he was staying in and thought they could go for a swim or watch a DVD or something. When she accepted, he gave her his address and he decided to switch on his neglected laptop and surf the internet.
He began by checking his email messages. He had 5 new messages "Mr. Popular." Nick thought to himself and giggled. There was a piece of chain mail, a company advertising free porn, a message from AJ and one from his brother. He clicked page two to see who had sent the last message-Paris Hilton. Nick sighed but opened it. His palms were a little sweaty, as the page took for what seemed like hours to load. He held his breath until it loaded. She had scanned a picture of herself and her ex-boyfriend in her sex tape "A Night in Paris." Words in pink were written at the bottom: "At least he was a man unlike you! You're a disgusting pig!" He could imagine her laughing as she sent that- thinking it was funny. Nick laughed himself, but not at this prank, at how pathetic she was being.
"Take the high road, Nick." He heard Kevin say to him in his head- he had advised him this when he had found out Paris had accused him of beating her. Although Nick was angry, and could send worse material back to her in spite and revenge- Nick simply deleted the message and moved on.
In true AJ fashion, AJ's email was a joke that he had heard, which Nick found equally as funny as AJ had expressed, releasing him from the anger of Paris' email. He deleted the chain message and the free porn one, and opened his brother's email, which was dated for today.
"Yo Nick, how you doin'? I need to talk to you dude. My girlfriend broke up with me…she openly admitted to cheating on me…Things at home are a little rough still…I want to see you- is there no way I could come and stay a couple of days with you? I just need to some time to rest. I need to get a way from here. I can't stand it anymore. Email me back.
Aaron"
Instead of emailing Aaron back, Nick decided to call him. He wanted to know the full story, and as he dialled he prayed that Aaron wasn't too torn up about his girlfriend, like he had been. He would never want to see his brother go through that, ever. Nick felt an overwhelming sense of pain for his brother, Aaron had really liked her. Like with himself, he questioned why Aaron was cursed with such bad luck with girls- he treated them decently and fairly and still he did not get a stable relationship out of it. Nick left three missed calls on Aaron's phone, and left one voice mail, detailing his plans for the next few weeks. Without realising it, Nick had brushed his own problems aside to come to the aid of his brother.
Aaron needed him and he knew he had to be the one to support him.
Aaron depended on him. Aaron was already going through enough and he didn't need this right now…Nick felt an overwhelming twinge of déjà vu…
